51 Fareway Stores Do Round Up For Camp Courageous!

A huge thank you the leadership, staff, and customers of the Fareway Stores for doing a Round-Up for Camp Courageous at 51 of their stores!  Over $45,000 was raised!  (L-R) Dana Clapp has been with the Monticello Fareway since 2018 and is in charge of bread and milk; Ryan Jefferson  is the Monticello Assistant Grocery Manager, he has been with Fareway since 2004 and was in Marshalltown, Dubuque and Iowa City before landing in Monticello; BJ Franke is the new Monticello Grocery Manager, he opened the Hiawatha Store, was the Assistant Manager of the Grinnell Store and his roots are in Cedar Rapids; and David Titman, has been at the Monticello Store 9.5 years and is responsible for produce.  BJ is holding a large envelope of gift cards that Camp Courageous uses the year round to obtain food to serve the campers.  With nearly 10,000 campers served a year, Camp Courageous goes through tons of food.

Fareway Meat & Grocery has a long history and legacy with Camp Courageous going back decades.  Bill Beckwith, the long-time CEO of Fareway started volunteering at Camp Courageous taking tree stumps out with his stump grinder, decades ago.  From that grew a lifetime friendship and dedication to the work, here at Camp Courageous.  Bill was involved in almost every building project and his final project was the Beckwith Maintenance Building, which Camp received the check, just days before Bill’s passing.  Bill believed in sustainability and resourcefulness, virtues he could identify with, here at Courageous.
