Location: Monticello, IA
Job Type: Seasonal (Start Date May 25th) with potential for extension
Schedule: Includes evenings and weekends
Pay: Starting $700 a week
Position Overview
The Travel Coordinator supports travel experiences for individuals with disabilities. Under the supervision of the Travel Director and Assistant Travel Director, the Travel Coordinator assists with camper supervision, personal care support, and travel programming. The Travel Coordinator provides hands-on experience in disability services, travel program coordination, teamwork, and direct support while contributing to meaningful, mission-driven work.

- Ensure the safety, care, and well-being of campers during all travel activities, including shared lodging when required.
- Actively engage with campers during travel activities, promoting participation, inclusion, and positive experiences.
- Provide personal care support as needed, including assistance with dressing, eating, toileting, hygiene, and mobility.
- Monitor camper health, behavior, and needs, and report concerns to supervisory staff.
- Maintain effective communication with staff, volunteers, and supervisors to support high-quality programming and camper care.
- Ensure campers are properly prepared for travel and weather conditions.
- Follow all safety policies, camp rules, and emergency procedures; assist with emergency response when necessary (e.g., illness, injury, evacuation).
- Arrive on time, prepared for each assigned travel trip.
- Review camper applications and information to understand individual needs and travel requirements.
- Organize, maintain, and prepare travel program supplies and materials.
- Assist with trip coordination tasks when not traveling.
- Participate in post-trip evaluation to provide feedback and support program improvement.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Travel Director or Assistant Travel Director.

Required Qualifications

- Minimum 18 years of age.
- Sincere and genuine interest in working with individuals with disabilities.
- Able to work a flexible and varied schedule based on travel needs.
- Ability to work extended, multi-day trips away from home, including outdoor environments.
- Ability to walk long distances, stand for extended periods, tolerate various weather conditions, and lift and carry at least 50 Ibs.
- Ability to provide consistent supervision and respond appropriately in emergency situations.
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn adult personal care and behavior management techniques.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to accept guidance and supervision while demonstrating integrity, adaptability, and professionalism.
- Basic computer skills, including email and digital reporting tools.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Current physical examination (renewed every two years).
- Willingness to obtain Iowa Medication Manager Training certification within 60 days of hire.
- Current or willingness to obtain First Aid and CPR certification.
- Successful completion of required background and/or DMV checks.
