Adventure Director

As Adventure Director you will lead the Adventure program, working with campers with intellectual & developmental disabilities (from 5 to adult) in these areas:
- Low ropes & teambuilding
- Static & dynamic high ropes
- Outdoor & indoor rock climbing
- Soaring Eagle Zipline
- Adaptive climbing in all areas above & general recreation
Essentials:
- 21 years of age, bachelor’s degree in therapeutic recreation or related field (or comparable experience)
- ACCT Level 1(required) or 2 (preferred): Experience belaying and setting up adventure activities, elements and events
- Current certifications (or willingness to obtain in 6 months) in ARC lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR, and medication manager for Iowa, and adult and child mandatory reporter certifications
- Interest, knowledge and skills in the field of adventure activities
- Self-motivated, dedicated, demonstrates leadership & teaching ability
- Ability to walk long distances and stand for long periods of time; ability to tolerate a variety of weather conditions; ability to lift and carry at least 50lbs
- Be an adventurous, caring & self-motivated individual
- Communicate with clarity and empathy to campers and co-workers
- Work as part of a large team
- Experience managing staff preferred

- Year-round full time exempt position

About Camp Courageous
One hour from Cedar Rapids and 4 from Chicago, camp is in the small community of Monticello, IA. You will help to lead a vibrant program & counseling staff and provide recreation for campers with a range of disabilities.
