Camp Courageous was surprised and deeply saddened by the recent passing of Camper Alec Meade, 29 of Newhall. Alec was a favorite of all! He had been coming to Camp Courageous every year, for nearly 20-years! Everyone here has enjoyed reminiscing on this super camper, as his t-shirt displays. Alex brought fun, joy, happiness, and smiles, everywhere he went. He was always good for at least one joke for the day…what a talent!
Over the years Alex received about every award Camp Courageous can offer a camper! Always the ‘Good Humor Award’ but everything from canoeing to swimming, to campfires, to singing…he was multitalented and loved everything he did, and made others, staff and campers alike, feel his joy!
As his mother, Carol Meade, said, “He loved going to camp more than anything! I can’t remember how many years he attended – he would be able to tell me exactly –The only year he missed was 2020. We were just talking on Tuesday about his upcoming week at camp on September 1-5…. Thank you, Charlie, for creating a place that gave Alec so much joy.”
Alec deeply loved and was loved by his family, and he delighted in sharing jokes that brought smiles and laughter to all. His warmth, humor, and kind spirit touched many lives and will be dearly missed by all that knew him, particularly here at Camp Courageous. Alec was a wonderful inspiration to so many of us…
Camp’s sympathy goes out to Alec’s beautiful family…along with friends…
