CAMP COURAGEOUS HONORARY BOARD MEMBER, JIM HYNES, PASSES
Camp Courageous is saddened by the passing of Honorary Board Member, Jim Hynes, 91. Jim lived 53-years in Cedar Rapids, but had moved to Alpharetta, GA to be closer to family in 2016. Jim and his wife, Lynn, had been married 63-years, with Lynn passing in early 2017. Jim was among the first Camp Courageous Board Members, and his skills as an engineer were much needed at the time. Jim co-founded Engineerinng Associates in Cedar Rapids. Jim was a great Camp volunteer, being very active with Lynn during the early years of Jet-Fresh-Hawaian Pineapple Sales, selling and cutting-up 1,000s of pineapples. Jim could be incredibly funny and made friends extremely easy. Jim loved golf and loved to play cards. Jim and I shared the same birthday-November 15. For 45-years, Jim would go out of his way to find me a unique and exceptional birthday card…often with famous individauls singing a personal birthday wish to me (and 10,000 other Charlies). Interesting he died on my brother, Mike’s birthday, May 8th…
