Camp Courageous Shocked With The Passing Of Board Member, Phil Short.
The Camp Courageous Family was shocked by the recent passing of Camp Board Member, Phil Short, 75 of Winthrop, IA. Phil had been involved with Camp Courageous for decades, and for the past 5-years he has served on the Board of Directors, along with his wife, Jan. Phil was well known for his values of hard work, integrity, and resilience. Those values were developed early in Phil’s life, with his father passing when Phil was 16-years-old and Phil needing to juggle managing the family farm, school, sports, FFA, and much more. Phil was a proud cattleman and was well known for his generosity of giving meat to Camp Courageous, his church and so many other individuals and organizations. Phil was a soft-spoken gentle man, whose kindness and wisdom was known to many not only in Iowa, but across the country. He touched more lives than he could have ever imagined. Being a friend of Phil’s was very personal. Camp Courageous’ deepest sympathy goes out to Phil’s dear wife, Jan, along with other family and friends.
