Cedar Rapids P.E.O….A Wonderful Group Of Good & Caring Ladies…
A special thank you to Ann Hodges (L) for inviting Camp Courageous to give a program to this delightful Cedar Rapids P.E.O., at the home of Joanne Peterson’s (Joanne is sitting in the greenish chair, with her dog, Cooper, in her lap). Ann was a special education teacher in the Cedar Rapids School District for years and use to bring students to camp. In the back window is longtime friends of the camp, Susan Ovel and Char Pence. Wonderful group and a wonderful afternoon. P.E.O. is a philanthropic organization where women celebrate the advancement of women, educate women through scholarships, grants, awards, loans, and stewardship of Cottey College in and motivate women to achieve their highest aspirations. P.E.O. had its roots in Mt. Pleasant, at Iowa Wesleyan College, in 1869 and is now headquartered in Des Moines, IA. Jeanne Muellerleille, who headed the Camp’s program for about 40-years, was a member of the Monticello P.E.O. Have known many exceptional members over the years.
