Thank you to Jeff Schmatt, (Back-Left-With Camera), for inviting Camp Courageous to give a presentation to the Cedar Rapids Thursday Noon Optimist Club and for giving Camp Courageous the opportunity to celebrate their 50^th Anniversary of supporting Camp Courageous!  We fondly remember splitting wood by hand, behind the old lodge, with Gary Kouba (former WMT staffer) and the rest of the Club, back in 1980, .   Don Peterson, also a member, was among the first Petroleum Marketers of Iowa to take Camp Courageous under their wing in 1981.  Chuck Gartner is another of their great members who has provided Camp Courageous with insightful guidance and support over the years.   Most of their club members have helped at the camp’s breakfasts/open houses and other events.  Most also attended a meeting at Camp Courageous last year and were able to take a grand tour and do the zipline!  Super group!  We always appreciate the opportunity to cross paths.
