Introducing the star of the Camp Courageous counselor spotlight week, Matthew!

My name is Matthew, though I’ve never really had a nickname. However, I’ll happily respond to ‘Mateo,’ a nod to my Spanish roots. Originally hailing from Kansas City, Missouri, my roots run deep in the heart of the Midwest. I spent my formative years in Marshall, a quaint small town nestled about 70 miles east of KC. As I eagerly anticipate Camp, my heart resonates with the prospect of authentic relationship-building. I’m passionate about fostering independence and interdependence among campers, empowering them to believe in themselves more with each passing day. I’m committed to providing an unforgettable camp experience that leaves lasting memories. Now, here’s a fun fact about me: I use to think living in a van down by the river was something to be feared, I’m now living this as an accomplished life goal. Less truly is more.
