Camp Courageous is saddened by the passing of Mary Anne (Kuriger) Miller, 89 of Dubuque.  Mary Anne was the daughter of Camp Courageous Honorary Board Member, Bernard Kuriger, and Bernard’s wife, Mary.  Bernard was the camp’s first plumber, during the earliest days of the camp, plumbing those first five buildings.  Bernard was truly a jack-of-all-trades, along with his friend, and 20+ year volunteer maintenance person, Clete Goedken.  Mary Anne had a wonderful career as a Register Nurse, and was loved by all she served from the heart.  She was married for 66-years to Frank Miller.  Frank gave planetarium programs, at the Loras Planetarium for years, which I was a regular at his Friday night and Sunday afternoon programs throughout the late 60s and early 70s.  Bernard’s last living child is Jack (Renee) Kuriger, who continues the Kuriger tradition of Camp Courageous involvement.  Thanks to a wonderful role model, Bernard’s entire family were regulars at the Camp Breakfasts and other events.  Mary Anne was so active in so much; her passing is a huge loss to many.  Camp Courageous sympathy goes out to Mary Anne’s family and friends. -Charlie
