Legendary Robert “Bob” Niederhauser, 95, of Mt. Vernon Passes…Life Long Camp Courageous Supporter

Camp Courageous’ sympathy goes out to the family and friends of Robert “Bob” Niederhauser, 95, of Mt. Vernon…a true legend of his time. Bob’s support of Camp Courageous goes back decades, which was only strengthened with his friend, Leo Greco. Bob’s life was a life well-lived. He was best known for hard work, along love and kindness to all. These wonderful traits will live on in the lives of his and Leota’s children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Bob’s ever-present smile will be remembered by all who knew him. Bob was in the grocery business in one way or another for his entire working career. He and his family owned Bob’s Super Valu in Mount Vernon from 1957 to 1971. After retiring, he was an antique dealer and continued this until the time of his death. Bob had many wise words in his final days, the very last of which were these… “Okay guys and gals, that will be all for tonight. I want to thank you all for coming. Now just go home and be kind to each other.” In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a memorial donation be made in Bob’s name to one of his lifelong favorite charities, Camp Courageous of Iowa www.campcourageous.org/donate/
