Lifeguard Job Description
Responsible to: Aquatic Director
- Must have a current Red Cross lifeguard certificate. Can be regular lifeguard, shallow water lifeguard, or waterfront lifeguard. This should also include CPR for the professional rescuer.
- Must be at least 16.
- Will be trained to our Emergency Action Plan.
- Will need to be able to enforce rules.
- Must be willing to learn how to check pool chemicals.
- Must be able to learn acceptable water quality levels, and if there is a problem to contact the Aquatic Director and/or CPO immediately.
- Making sure that if the drains are not visible in either pool, that pool is closed until reopened by the Aquatic Director and/or CPO.
- Will be trained on how to handle various clean up situations.
- Will attend monthly in-services.
- Will learn information regarding Weather Emergencies, Lightening, Evacuation procedures, and chemical emergencies, and Shelter in Place procedures.
