Lorna Hoefflin, 93, Of Dubuque, Long Time Camp Courageous Supporter, And Friend For 55+Years, Passes
Long time Camp Courageous supporter, Lorna Hoefflin, 93, of Dubuque has passed. After decades of supporting Camp Courageous, it was a treat a few years ago to have Gene & Lorna Hoefflin and their daughter and husband, Jim & Carol Oberfoell, all of Dubuque, visit and tour Camp Courageous. Lorna was one of my supervisors in the early and mid 70s at Dubuque Bank & Trust. I have been forever grateful to DB&T for giving me the opportunity to start out in their coin dept. at about 16-years-old and eventually become a teller for 8-hours during the day and to do custodial work for 8-hours after the bank would close. Those 16-hour days provided me a great base to get through high school and college with no debt. Before DB&T, at the age of 14, I worked at Spahn & Rose Lumber, where Jim currently works. S & R provided me the foundation from which I learned a lot about the building trades. Lorna was a wonderful heartwarming and kind person…she will be dearly missed. Lorna wished for memorials to be made to Camp Courageous, along with other charities. (campcourageous.org/donate) -Charlie
