Marilyn Worthington, Impressed With The Nature Trail, Moves On To A Perfoming Arts Outdoor Stage
It was an honor to have Bob Tibor’s sister, Marilyn Worthington, of Colorado back to Iowa to visit Camp Courageous and to see first-hand the beautiful Camp Courageous Nature Trail Marilyn and Bob & Carol Tibor’s Family helped provide Camp. Marilyn is standing with Bob & Carol’s son, John. Marilyn was impressed when her brother and family provided the funds for the bronze statue that sits at the center of the Mainliner Memorial Park. It is symbolic of each day at Camp Courageous when the campers raise the flag and say their pledge of allegiance. Below the girl in a wheelchair, is a plaque that reads, “We honor the incredible courage and perseverance of all campers and recognize the outstanding benefits provided at Camp Courageous by families, staff, and volunteers. Bob & Carol Tibor Family” What a heartwarming, good and caring family…
Marilyn was so impressed with Camp Courageous, that both her and Bob & Carol made substantial donations to the new nature trail. Marilyn’s husband, Hal, who had recently passed, was a biologist by profession, and the ability to take campers into the depths of the woods to enjoy nature at its purest, was a perfect memorial to Hal. Marilyn was a dietician for years on the west coast and provided Camp many great ideas for the future! Marilyn could not praise the new Camp Courageous Nature Trail enough…she was delighted, and knew it was something Hal would have been very proud to have his name supporting.
Marilyn’s next project is to build an Outdoor Performing Arts Stage at Camp, as the previous one was decaying and had a tree land on it. We look forward to this project, that will be another SUPER activity for campers.
