Ozzie Quandahl, 99, of Waukon, IA Passes

Camp Courageous is saddened upon the passing of Ozzie Quandahl, 99, of Waukon, IA. Ozzie was a huge fan of Camp Courageous, as a result of Leo Greco introducing him to the Camp. Ozzie would organize a ride on his motorcycle from the Waukon Honda to Camp Courageous for the Camp’s Annual Open Houses and Breakfasts. At times there were 50+ riders, along with Ozzie’s dog, often riding with him on his motorcycle, heading to Camp Courageous. That tradition of motorcycling from Waukon to Camp Courageous continues to this day. Ozzie and his wife, Phyllis owned and operated the Quandahl Food Ranch in Waukon, where he sold a lot of fruitcakes for Camp Courageous. Ozzie’s energy, grit, integrity, work ethic, and kindness set a standard for all that knew him. He led by example. Like Leo Greco, Ozzie was a person of great moral standards and integrity. I often remember traveling with Leo to visit Ozzie and Phyllis at their home or business in Waukon. Ozzie was a people person; he loved to meet and make new friends wherever he went. His wife, Phyllis, of 75 years, passed July 1st , 2025. Camp’s sympathy goes out to family and friends of Ozzie & Phyllis Quandahl.
