How do I apply to be a volunteer?
Volunteers may fill out, by clicking on this link, the Camp Courageous Volunteer online form. Once you apply, you will be contacted by the Volunteer Director who will provide an introduction to the program and answer any questions. Please note: international volunteers are responsible for securing their own Visa and transportation to and from Camp.
How old do I need to be to volunteer?
Volunteers in the program department (working with campers) need to be at least 16 years old. Volunteers in other areas of camp can be any age, but there may be age restrictions in using certain maintenance equipment. Younger volunteers may need to be supervised by a parent or other adult.
What types of jobs might I be volunteering for?
There are volunteer opportunities in every department of camp and every effort is made to place you in your area of interest. Many different types of jobs are available. Some examples include being a counselor, mowing grass, trimming, weeding flower beds, answering phones, serving meals, clearing trails and brush, mailings, and more.
Can I request to work in a particular job or specific area of camp?
In most cases yes. Every effort is made to match you and your interest with what is needed at camp.
Can I volunteer during the week that my camper will be attending?
Yes. However, you still must complete an interview, background check and reference check.
Is there any paperwork necessary to fill-out before becoming a volunteer at Camp Courageous?
Yes. By clicking on the link, Volunteers are asked to complete the online Camp Courageous Volunteer Form. Volunteers wishing to work with campers must also successfully complete an interview, reference check, and background check.
Are there opportunities for church groups/mission trips?
Yes. Camp Courageous is not religiously affiliated so church groups of any denomination are welcome. These groups often complete maintenance and grounds keeping projects. You can schedule your group to come to camp for any where from a few hours to an entire week. Week-long spots are limited and fill quickly, so call if your group might be interested.
