Willis & Grace Becker’s Legacy Of Kindness Lives On In Their Children

It was a special treat for me to have some of my dear cousins visit Camp Courageous.  I have been humbled, and heart warmed to have had 100% of my eleven Becker uncles and aunts, along with most my cousins, who are spread across the United States, support Camp Courageous over my 45+ year tenure.  Here are cousins Jim Becker, of Minneapolis, MN; Paula Becker Day, of Solon, IA; Amy Becker, of Iowa City, IA; and Tom Becker, of Riverside, CA…(their brother, Joe Becker, of Dubuque, IA; had to leave early and missed the photo). They are my Uncle Willie & Aunt Grace Becker’s Family, with their roots in Dubuque, IA.  While touring we stopped at the Mainliner Memorial Park, where a bench honors the Becker Family who served in the military during WWII.    Seven out of the eleven Becker children went to War, along with the family’s German Shepard, ‘Ginger’.  In April of 1941, my dad,  Howard, became the first of the 7 Becker siblings to enter the US Military and serve in World War II.  He had landed on the beaches of Normandy, 10-hours after the invasion began, June 6, 1944, 81-years ago.  The cousins bought several bunk beds for the newly remodeled South Cabin Project…I am deeply touched…
