Program Specialist Job Description
Responsible to: Program Director
Qualifications:
- At least 18 years old
- Sincere interest in working with individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities
- Emotional maturity and integrity
- Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred
- Willing to obtain Standard First Aid and CPR Certification
- Willing to obtain Medication Manager certification or in-house course within 30 days
- Willing to obtain Iowa Commercial Driver’s License, or Chauffer’s license
- Willingness to obtain a Lifeguard certification
General Responsibilities:
Assist the Program Director, Assistant Program Director and Program Specialists in organizing and implementing programs for individuals with disabilities. A program coordinator focuses on executing the day-to-day tasks of program and the delivery of a safe and fun program for campers with varying degrees of knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Specific responsibilities: Program Specialist
- Assist Program department in organizing and leading evening programs as needed.
- Make safety a top priority.
- Attend program meetings and assist in program planning.
- Assist in resolving camper issues and staff working relationships.
- Assist in maintaining program records and documentation.
- Do cabin duty as required.
- Be available for emergency respite care as needed.
- Help with partnership rentals as needed, including weekend hours.
- Assist with other duties as assigned by the Program Director and Assistant Program Director.
- Help in all departments as needed during the winter season.
- Be available for emergency respite care as needed.
- During the winter season help with swimming program.
