What a wonderful day it was, to have the Cedar Rapids Thursday Noon Optimist Club visit camp, have lunch with us, and take a grand tour of the facilities…which included zipline rides!  Thank you to Jeff Schmatt, from the group for giving Camp Courageous this opportunity.   This Optimist Club has been supporting Camp Courageous for nearly 50-years (1976)!  I fondly remember splitting wood by hand with Gary Kouba (former WMT staffer) and the rest of the club, back in 1980, behind the old lodge.   Don Peterson, also a member, was among the first Petroleum Marketers to take camp under their wing in 1981.  Chuck Gartner is another of their great members who has provided Camp Courageous with some insightful guidance and support over the years.   Most of their club members help at the camp’s breakfasts/open houses and other events.  Super group!  We always appreciate the opportunity to cross paths.
