Registered Nurse (RN): Camp Courageous Health Services (Year-Round Role)
Camp Courageous is hiring a Full Time Registered Nurse to support campers and participants in a mission-driven, team-based environment under the supervision of the Nursing Director.
Camp Courageous is a year-round recreational respite and travel facility for individuals with disabilities of all ages and their families.
This role is a great fit for an RN seeking a unique non-clinical opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the individuals and families we serve.
Provide exceptional nursing care while fostering a compassionate, empowering environment where campers can grow and be themselves.
Responsibilities
• Provide Exceptional Service to both campers and caregivers
• Provide basic medical support and monitoring for campers/participants
• Administer medications per policy and within scope of practice
• Respond to injuries or medical concerns and provide first aid as needed
• Document care and incidents accurately
• Communicate clearly with campers, caregivers, volunteers, staff and leadership as appropriate
• Support a safe and positive experience for individuals of all ages and abilities
• Delegate provisions of care as needed and deemed appropriate to assistive nursing personnel.

Work Location
• On-site: Camp Courageous (Monticello, IA)
Schedule
• Full Time
o Spring, Summer and Fall Seasons 1pm-9pm When overnight sessions are in progress
o Winter Season 8am-4pm
o Occasional weekend coverage
o Occasional participation in camper and fundraising events outside of regularly scheduled hours
o On call for triaging nursing questions and needs overnight on a rotating schedule
• Occasional scheduling flexibility to support team coverage, work-life balance, and camper care.
Qualifications
• Active RN License
• BLS certification
• BLS Instructor certification (or willingness to obtain, camp-sponsored)
• Mandatory Reporter Certification, Dependent Adult and Child
• Maintains composure and sound clinical judgment in urgent and emergency situations
• Comfortable working with individuals with disabilities in a camp setting
• Dependable, professional, and team-oriented
Experience:
• Experience with individuals with special healthcare needs : 1 year (Preferred)
• Home health, school nursing, day-hab or group home/residential facility experience desired but not required
