This week, campers, staff and volunteers welcomed the arrival of the AMVETS  RIDERS 49 0f Cedar Falls, IA and the SILVER EAGLE (SEHD) H.O.G of Waterloo, IA .Together, the two groups traveled to Camp Courageous to provide an exceptional experience for campers during the MDA Session, serving campers 8-17 who have been diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy.

Together, the two groups provided rides for ALL campers at Camp Courageous. Campers had the opportunity to choose between riding in the traditional passenger seat behind the motorcycle driver, in a standard sidecar, or in a specially designed wheelchair-accessible sidecar that allows campers to roll directly onto the platform (pictured) while remaining safely in their own wheelchair if they choose not to transfer.

The commitment of AMVETS Riders 49 and the Silver Eagle H.O.G. Chapter to making the experience accessible ensured that every single camper had the opportunity to enjoy the thrill of the ride.

The AMVETS Riders 49 and the Silver Eagle (SEHD) H.O.G. Chapter have been valued partners of Camp Courageous for many years, creating hundreds of lasting memories for campers and their families.

In addition to donating their time and sharing their passion for riding, AMVETS Riders 49 presented Camp Courageous with a generous donation to support the Camp’s mission.

A huge thank you to both groups for creating unforgettable memories with the campers that will not be forgotten by all that were a part of the experience; whether cheering from the sidelines or riding along.  After all, it’s all about experiencing courage together.
