Campers in Myrtle Beach- Luau, Pirate Show & more!

Day 1:

Travel Campers were excited to embark on a journey to Myrtle Beach! After check-in at camp, we ate at Jersey Mikes for lunch and hopped on a plane to Dallas. Once in Dallas we settled in for our 3-hour layover and ate at a BBQ restaurant that had delicious brisket sandwiches and BBQ meat baked potatoes.

After a slight plane delay we flew to South Carolina and upon arrival in Myrtle Beach, we picked up a rental car and headed to our beachside Condo for the week. Everyone is excited to explore the coastal town tomorrow!

Day 2:

The travel group set off for a day at Myrtle Beach Boardwalk, a destination known for its vibrant attractions and stunning coastal views. Their first stop was the iconic SkyWheel, a towering Ferris wheel offering breathtaking panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean and the bustling boardwalk below. As they ascended, they marveled at the scenic beauty, snapping photos from their glass-enclosed gondolas. The ride provided a thrilling start to their adventure, setting a joyful tone for the rest of the day.

After descending from the SkyWheel, the group wandered through the multitude of shops lining the boardwalk, each offering unique souvenirs that captured the essence of Myrtle Beach. They picked up shark necklaces, colorful t-shirts, and fun little knickknacks ensuring they had keepsakes to remember their trip by. With bags full of treasures, they then headed to the nearby arcade, where they spent some time playing games, competing for high scores.

The group’s hunger led them to the Oceanfront Bar and Grill, where they enjoyed a delicious meal with the sound of waves crashing in the background. The fresh seafood was a perfect complement to the warm, sunny day. To end the time on the boardwalk they enjoyed delicious smoothies out of pineapples.

As the afternoon faded, they eagerly prepared for the main event: the Fire Luau at St. Johns Inn. Dressed in festive attire, they arrived at the inn for a lively celebration with traditional Hawaiian music, hula dancing, and a mesmerizing fire performance. The luau was a spectacular blend of culture and entertainment, and the group immersed themselves in the festivities, capturing countless photos to preserve the memories. As the night ended, they took a trip down to the beach to dip their toes in the Atlantic Ocean.  It was a wonderful day full of activities. The travel group will be ready to become pirates tomorrow!

Day 3:

The Travel Group dove into a world of wonder at Ripley’s Aquarium nestled into the Broadway at the beach. The aquarium featured many fun exhibits with wildlife such as a stingray touch pool, South African penguins, 2 sloths named Cleo and Rico, and a tunnel where we came face to face with majestic sharks, Gabby the green sea turtle, giant sawfish, and over 14,000 fish.

Lunch was spent food wasted away in Margaritaville. After a delicious meal, we headed back to the aquarium. We went on a glass-bottom boat adventure over the tunnel we went in earlier. On the boat we saw many sea creatures, gabby the sea turtle glided by, and 12-foot sharks, we were only separated by 2 inches of glass.

Once the boat adventure was over we headed out of the aquarium, to check out a couple of shops at the Broadway at the beach. When done shopping the group headed back to the condo some took a siesta and others walked on the beach.

In the evening it was time for the Pirate dinner show, Captain Dustin and 1st Mate Ro were ready for the show in their pirate gear. As the action began a four-course pirate feast was served. The most famous pirate Blackbeard along with his quartermaster Jack lead the Crimson and Sapphire crews in a battle high above full-sized pirate ships in a 15-foot lagoon. The evening was packed with action, competition, and audience participation Captain Dustin was called to help pass water-filled buckets in a competition. At the end of the show and after a fun-filled day the group headed to the condo for the night.

Day 4:

On the final day at Myrtle Beach, our travel group made the most of every moment under the sun. We spent the morning and afternoon enjoying the pristine beach and inviting pools. Swimming in the refreshing ocean waters, we felt a sense of freedom and relaxation. Dustin and Hayley took to the shore, searching for unique seashells to bring home as souvenirs.

The highlight of the afternoon was a lively pizza party right on the beach, where we indulged in delicious pepperoni and supreme slices while soaking up the warm sun. Our enjoyment didn’t go unnoticed; several bystanders, touched by the sense of community and the work our staff does, generously bought us ice cream as a token of appreciation. This unexpected gesture of kindness made the day even more special and reminded us of the positive impact we have on others.

The fun continued as we moved to the pool area, where we played games and splashed around. The lazy river was a favorite spot, and we held friendly races that brought out our competitive spirits. As the sun began to set, we gathered for a sumptuous Italian buffet dinner, savoring a variety of rich, flavorful Italian dishes that delighted our taste buds. With satisfied appetites and happy hearts, we then turned our attention to shopping for last-minute souvenirs and gifts.

The night ended with a flurry of packing, as we carefully stowed away our belongings, each item carrying the weight of the unforgettable experiences we had shared. The day was a perfect conclusion to our trip, leaving us with cherished memories and a longing to return someday.
