Campers have a blast at Iowa State Fair!

The Travel group had a wonderful time at the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines, Iowa!! The group started the day at the Fair with a delicious lunch at Cattlemen’s. They ordered cheeseburgers of all varieties and beef wraps and walking tacos too.

One of the groups of gentlemen went over to Thrillville! Blayke and Jake went on a ride called the Silver Streak. The ride consisted of carts spinning at a very fast rate. Imagine you were a sailor out on choppy water and, that’s how the ride felt.  They also checked out the butter exhibits and the horses.

The girls checked out the varied industries building where they were giving a lot of free stuff away. After a break to get lemonade and root beer the girls went into another building and made friendship bracelets.

The campers went home with plush animals of all sizes and colors. The group consumed a fair share of fried fair foods such as funnel cakes, footlong corn dogs, mini cookies, and donuts.

After everyone was all faired out, we hopped on the bus and drove to Coralville. Upon arrival we ate a filling dinner at Steak N Shake and all the campers except for one were picked up. We had one last stop in Marion where the last camper was picked up. Not long after the bus made it back to camp after a great day at the fair!
