Dave Ruhs, formally from Cedar Rapids, drove from Des Moines to receive a royal tour of Camp Courageous and to make a donation, with his brother, Bill, in honor of their folks (Bill & Margaret Ruhs) and their sister, Su Wade Ruhs Family. Bill & Margaret will be honored in the Memorial Park with a paver and their sister will be honored with a plaque with their mother in the pool. Dave is pointing to a pool plaque in memory of his mother, Margaret L Ruhs R.N..
Dave’s relationship with Camp Courageous goes back to the first Cruisin’ For Camp Courageous meetings in the mid 80s…most taking place in the conference room of KCRG Radio and Television. The entire KCRG leadership, along with Cedar Valley Street Rod leadership, and Art Christoffersen were present, along with leadership from Frank Magid & Associates…KCRG’s promotion consultant.
Dave and the Cedar Valley Street Rod Club built Camp Courageous’ Arts & Crafts Building from nothing. Dave (an electrician by profession) lead 100% of the wiring of the Main Lodge as a volunteer and donated much of the electrical supplies. Dave and his wife, Dr. Sandy Ruhs, have never stopped being involved with Camp Courageous for the past 40-years…for which Camp Courageous is super grateful!
