Sadly, Camp has learned of the passing of Todd Smith. For over two decades, Todd’s booming voice could be heard good-naturedly harassing and cajoling participants in the annual Cruisin’ for Camp Courageous live auction into making just one more bid. His relatable talents as an auctioneer helped raise thousands of dollars every year for the event. When Todd was contacted during the planning every year to inquire if he was available to help with the auction, his response was “I was waiting for your call!”
Several years ago, camp began honoring veterans as part of the program prior to the start of the live auction. It was then learned that Todd possessed additional talents—he was a gifted singer. He offered to perform the National Anthem to honor veterans, then suggested passing his oversized cowboy hat to collect donations for Camp Courageous Campers. What began as a kind offer became a highly anticipated tradition each year. Todd, with his big voice, big hat, and big heart will be truly missed.
