It was an honor to welcome the Tibor Family to Camp Courageous to see the many wonderful projects they have helped make possible over the past 30-plus years!

Marilyn Worthington, of Colorado, shared how impressed she was when her brother, Bob, and his family provided the funding for the bronze statue at the center of Mainliner Memorial Park. The statue symbolizes one of the most meaningful traditions at Camp Courageous, as campers gather each day to raise the American flag and recite the Pledge of Allegiance.  Beneath the girl in the wheelchair is a plaque that reads:

“We honor the incredible courage and perseverance of all campers and recognize the outstanding benefits provided at Camp Courageous by families, staff, and volunteers. Bob & Carol Tibor Family.”  What a caring and generous family!

Over the past several years, Marilyn, Bob, and Carol have partnered to support nearly every major project at Camp—from the Nature Trail and the South Cabin renovation to the Forest Grove Stage and now the new camper cabin. The Tibor Family has played a critical role in the Camp’s continued growth and success.

Marilyn’s husband, Hal, who recently passed away, was a biologist by profession. Creating a nature trail where campers can experience the beauty of the woods in their purest form is a fitting tribute to his life and legacy. Marilyn, who spent many years as a dietitian on the West Coast, has also shared many thoughtful ideas to help shape Camp’s future.

Marilyn could not say enough about the new Camp Courageous Nature Trail. She was delighted with the finished project and knew Hal would have been proud to have his name associated with such a meaningful addition to Camp. Marilyn will also have naming rights to the new Dietary Area in the Dr. Robert & Eloise Dennis Camper Cabin. During the visit, the family toured the site of the new cabin. The goal is to complete fundraising in 2026, begin construction in 2027, and welcome campers to the new facility in 2028.

The new Tibor-Worthington “Forest Grove Stage” also impressed the entire family. It has already become the perfect setting for camper awards, performances, movies, and countless special moments. It is a wonderful addition to Camp Courageous and one that will be enjoyed for generations to come.
