Camp Saddened By The Passing Of LeRoy Magnuson, 91 of La Porte City…Long Time Petroleum Marketer & Auto Parts Marketer.
Camp Courageous is saddened by the passing of LeRoy Magnuson, 91, of La Porte City. It was a special treat, a couple years ago, to have LeRoy and family stop by Camp Courageous for a tour. (L-R) Leroy and Janet Magnuson, with Paul and their daughter, Tracy Blisk, who were from Summerville, South Carolina for this picture and now reside in Marshall, MO. LeRoy started his career at Lloyd’s DX in La Porte City. LeRoy started supporting Camp Courageous right after the Petroleum Marketers of Iowa took Camp Courageous under their wing in 1981. The petroleum brand, ‘DX’, were huge supporters of Camp Courageous in the 80s, when Camp Courageous was struggling to survive. DX matched every dollar donated by an Iowa DX jobber to Camp Courageous. LeRoy went on to become part of Honorary Board Member, Norb Bahl’s business in Jesup, IA; through Frost Oil and Consolidated Energy. LeRoy had been primarily in the LP business and auto parts business. LeRoy was part of some wonderful days in the history of Camp Courageous. We thank the Magnusons for their decades of support!
